House 3, A Forever Home.

After just two and a half years of living downtown Chicago, my husband and I decided it was time to take our little family of three and head to the suburbs. We were quickly outgrowing our 1200 sq. ft. home. and knew our family would need more space to grow. So, we put our house up for sale and headed for the southwest burbs.

When we first walked through our (now) home, I honestly didn't LOVE it. Everywhere I looked was a project, it was cold, dark and had some unusual design decisions in the finishes through out the entire house. And lets face it, cooking is extremely important to me and this home's kitchen was awful, I am SO glad to say we are in the process of redoing it as I write this. We had our sites set on another home on the other side of town but since our initial buyers fell through we lost it... As they say, everything happens for a reason, we ended up viewing our (now) home three more times and decided to make an offer. The neighborhood is full of parks, kids, a community pool, walking trails and its close to a lot of great stores and the historic downtown. Once the offer was accepted I could immediately picture my family growing up in this home. I also started pinning ideas on my latest design project.

Living Room Transformation

Not only do I have an obsession with grey but I have an obsession with shiplap and all things Fixer Upper. I want to be friends with Chip and Joanna, I absolutely adore their style and I can't wait to implement some of their gorgeous designs in my own home. Being a fan of this show for a few years, I was suddenly thrilled to have this giant blank canvas to work with. My husband crafted a beautiful shiplap piece to hang over our fireplace along with some white shelves along either side. We painted the living room and kitchen combo "Angel's Sigh" by Valspar. Check out some before and after photos below. I cannot wait to share our kitchen remodel in a few weeks with everyone!
